Didn’t Have a Clue I can see it all now but back then I didn't have a clue. It must have been painful to watch me as I stumbled and fumbled for you. But if I’d thought that you loved me in some small, meaningless way, the world wouldn’t have seemed so terrifying those days. The bitter taste of desperation and bravado hung on my breath; I must have made you cringe or scared you half to death. But if I’d seen the horizon, waiting just around the bend, the world wouldn’t have seemed so uninspired back then. All that I can say in my own defence: I never meant you harm; foolish are the innocent. I can see you now though I ran as far away as I could. The gentle breeze may taunt me but if you could forgive me, you would. Now I know the constellations don’t revolve around me, and the way things turned out are just how they were meant to be.
