Never Overestimate the Crowd Never overestimate the crowd; superstars always play it loud. They just spend their nights standing in the limelight. But their mothers won’t go to the show ‘cause they’ve heard the songs before. The crowd is getting restless; some say he’s a bore; and personally I won’t come here anymore. They’ve got all the groupies that success can bring, even though he just can’t sing. But he’s no fool; he’s not your average Joe. It takes guts to be a schmo. But would you want to live that life where everybody knows your name? They all think they know you ‘cause they saw you in the Hall of Fame. Would you want to lay it all out there for the whole wide world to see? Do you think you’re clever enough to escape with your dignity? Once he went to Hollywood but now he’s back here, playing for greasy fries and lots of free beer. But it can’t last: the bar’s old news. The tv’s faded and the songs are all the blues.
