The Emperor’s Wolves The Emperor’s wolves are howling just outside the gate. They will set upon us; then we’ll retaliate. Rabid dogs are barking louder than before. They have tasted our blood: now they’re back for more. Can you feel the madness that has bred hatred in their hearts? Now they’re waiting in the gloaming for their chance to lash out in the dark. Young children cry out, “they just want to be friends!” History books tell us that’s not how it will end. There must be a battle fought to its gory end. All faith and glory will be tested again. Can you summon courage to give strength to your beating heart? Now we’re waiting in the shadows for something weak to rip apart. Fields of fetid corpses smoulder and burn. I guess we’re safe now until they return. The horrors of battle I wish to see no more, but have we forgotten the lessons of war?
